Comments from our Guest Book at Casa Lilla
10-17 Sept. 2011 – Bill & Joan Richardson, Waikeke Island. New Zealand.
Your website indicated this could be a great place to get over 22 hours flying time for a couple of Kiwis and how right it turned out to be. This is a great base from which to bus/train or drive to the lovely hilltop towns in this area. Acquasparta is itself a lovely town, (but don’t tell any tourists or it will be spoilt!), it has everything we needed from supermarkets to cafes, history, architecture and tranquillity. Local folk have been receptive to our stupid enquiries in our dreadful Italian. Special mention here for Elisa at the tabaccheria for train schedules, she is super! Thanks to Conor and Siobhan for creating a home from home, sorry we have been so busy and chats have been fleeting but welcoming and helpful. We will certainly tell our friends about Casa Lilla as it has been so good. To sum up, in a week when the Rugby world cup is on in NZ we didn’t miss it a bit!
Bill & Joan Richardson.”
2-8 Sept. 2011 – Melody Carr, family & friends, Canberra Australia.
Thank you Conor, Siobhan, Massimo and Ilaria,
Acquasparta has captured our hearts with its fantastic food, scenery and people. Casa Lilla has been our home albeit only a short time but we too have left some wonderful memories in the walls of this extraordinary Italian villa. The courtyard is an excellent place to enjoy a summer / autumn evening with a glass of cold vino and a plate of fresh tasty cheeses, olives and prosciutto. The rooms are large and catered quite well for all of us.
Thank you Casa Lilla we will be back! Cheers!”

6-20 August 2011 – Mark, Anne-Marie and Oscar, London England.
We have had a great time here and the apartment has been a lovely place to stay. The rooms are spacious and the garden is a great place to chill out too, as well as being a good place for barbecuing. Great to have supermarkets close to hand and the town is lovely. Spoleto was a high spot in terms of towns but Todi and Perugia were lovely too. Special thanks to Conor and Siobhan for the good advice and fine hospitality, we’ve had a super time!
Mark, Anne-Marie & Oscar Turner.”
16-23 July 2011 – Thompson family, Hong Kong (via Australia)
We have had a wonderful time exploring Umbria. Every town has become our favourite. The apartment was the perfect base – and convenient and well equipped and very comfortable. Thank you for a lovely stay.”

A cool and peaceful room in a great location. Thanks so much for having us and being so helpful. We will return. Best wishes to you all,
Susan & Richard.”
1-5 July 2011 – Anita, Dave and Cosimo, San Francisco USA.
We have had a most wonderful stay at Casa Lilla. The apartment is so comfortable and the welcome from Conor, Siobhan, Massimo and Ilaria was so warm.
The location in Acquasparta was ideal, a pleasant 2 hour drive from Rome, a great base for visiting all the nearby towns of Umbria, while truly getting away from the throngs of tourists. We visited Todi, Orvieto, in the few days we were here. The village of Portaria 10 minutes away is not to be missed, we ate at L’Umbrico in the piazza, twice – we loved it. The monster park in Bomarzo was a fun outing – our 6 year old really enjoyed it, highly recommended to families and also the pozzo di San Patrizio in Orvieto – another big hit.
We hate to leave especially Cosimo who had a wonderful time here playing with Massimo – as I write this they are giggling under the bed! We will most definitely return.
Thank you Conor, Siobhan, Massimo and Ilaria!
Anita, Dave and Cosimo.”
1-30 June 2011 – Steve and Hazel Jones, Perth, West Australia.
What an excellent 4 weeks, our stay has allowed us to scratch the surface of this delightful region of Umbria and beyond. The Acquasparta base provides a real life community full of historical and cultural interest and fortunately remains devoid of tourist hordes.
The road network provides easy access to historical regional towns, mountain parks (love Parco Nazionale dei Monti Sibillini) and lakes and all things Roman. The whole experience has been enhanced by the apparent ongoing festivals and associated culinary experiences. Our linguistic shortcomings were no impediment with a community which has been eager to engage.
Buona fortuna Conor, Siobhan and Massimo and Ilaria, its been great!
- Steve.”
Dear Conor, Siobhan, Massimo and Ilaria,
Feel like I am leaving old friends. Our Umbrian experience will leave us with a lifetime of memories; the food, wine, places we’ve visited and most of all the friendliest people one could wish to meet.
- Love and best wishes, Hazel.”
19-24 June 2011 – Michael, Brandi & Jaimee, New Zealand.
A wonderful stay – very relaxing, calming rooms with the most comfortable bed we’ve had in Europe! Thank you for the fabulous breakfast, the books for our daughter to read and your kind and generous hospitality. This is a great base to explore the region and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Warmest wishes,
Michael, Brandi and Jaimee.”
19 May – 1 June 2011 – Pat & Peter Jackson, Cyprus (formerly UK).
This was our first visit to Italy and we have been ‘blown away’ by the beauty of Umbria. Conor & Siobhan have been the perfect hosts, providing absolutely everything we could possibly need – a warm welcome, comfy beds and a fabulously equipped kitchen! Casa Lilla is very well located for touring all of Umbria, with great and cheap train links to Rome and Perugia. We particularly enjoyed a trip to Norcia and the wonderful mountain scenery en-route; the delis and butchers were amazing, selling wonderful hams, a multitude of salami and sausages and every conceivable pork product. Our favourite town was Todi, only 20 minutes away by car, where we returned several times during our stay – great coffee and cornetto’s in the main piazza, plus simply delicious leisurely lunches at Piero & Silvania’s trattoria (just a short distance through the main archway leading into the town) … The wild boar casserole was particularly good! Thank you so much Conor & Siobhan for a wonderful stay; loved chatting to Massimo and hearing the happy chuckling of Ilaria.
Be Happy: Stay Well & Enjoy Life! – Love and best wishes Pat & Peter”
10-17 May 2011. Irina & Family
Dear Conor & Siobhan,
I have just got married and come out of Casa Lilla as a bride. Your home became mine for a week and I will never forget it in a lifetime. Thanks to your help and generosity I could welcome my family to Acquasparta, greet all my friends in your garden, spend the second and third night after the wedding with my husband and be simply HAPPY!
Thank you! I will be delighted to recommend Casa Lilla to anyone who would like to visit Umbria. Take care and I will be back to celebrate with you the first anniversary if possible!
Sincerely, Irina & husband Emiliano, mother, father, sister & family.”

23 April – 8 May 2011 – Shelly, Alan & Stan, Philadelphia, USA.
Conor & Siobhan,
What a stroke of luck to find Casa Lilla on the internet. We felt at home the minute we walked into your beautiful home and our spacious and lovely apartment. The bathrooms are a pleasure, the beds great and we loved sitting in the garden for breakfast and wine later in the evening.
Your warmth and hospitality are as appreciated not to mention your fabulous breads and jam we devoured! Two great weeks visiting most of the Umbrian hill-towns and Montepulciano in Tuscany was a huge treat. Acquasparta is a sweet and charming town and we made many friends.
Many Thanks, again we had a great time – Best, Shelly, Alan & Stan.”
14-23 April 2011 – Phil, Carol, Ben, Sam, Connie and Archie. UK.
We have had a lovely holiday in great weather. Very much enjoyed our two trips to Rome and visits to other hill top towns, Orvieto, Todi, Spoleto, Assisi and Amelia. Carsulae (Roman site) was a great place to visit, with lots of information in English. We enjoyed walks from Spoleto and also thought the town had the best ice-creams – we have tried plenty! The apartment was ideal for us with lots of cooking equipment and plenty of space. Thank you Siobhan and Conor for a fantastic holiday.”
Thanks very much, Conor and Siobhan, for a great holiday. Whilst it has all been fantastic, my personal favourite part was our two trips to Rome, which I thought was a fantastic city, with so many of the most famous – deservedly so – and impressive sights in the world. I seemed to be the only person in the family more interested in, for example, the Pantheon than in an ice-cream, so this suited me particularly well. There have, of course, been some great attractions closer to here, such as Spoleto and Todi, both packed with sights to see and things to do. We had great weather – and an overall fantastic holiday.” – Ben.

24-28th Oct 2009 – Susan Mayall & family, Australia
Hi Conor,
I just had to let you know that we still remember staying in your beautiful house this time last year. We are currently going over the kids diaries with them and they as well as us felt your place was the best in Italy that we stayed at and ranked as one of the best over our holiday, which was six weeks long. For value it was great and for welcoming it was superb.
With fond Memories, Susan Mayall & family” (by email)
June – November 2010 – Tom, Kirsten, Matilda and Cassandra. Australia.
Casa Lilla has been like a haven for us for our six month Italian adventure. It has everything one could need or want for either a long or short stay. Conor and Siobhan have been so friendly and helpful – nothing is too much trouble for them. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would love to return someday. It has been wonderful to see Massimo play with our daughter and to be here when Ilaria was born. Thank you so much – molto, molto grazie.”

22-29 May 2010 – Marijke Deurloo & Corné Buijs. Leiden, The Netherlands.
We had a great week in Casa Lilla, a pleasant and spacious apartment, a great location too. Most Umbrian cities are easily reached. We visited Orvieto, Todi, Spoleto and Assisi. We also made [sic] beautiful walks. We thank Siobhan and Conor (and Massimo) for their efficient hospitality. See you hopefully again some time.
PS.
We visited Spoleto, Todi, Assisi, Orvieto, Amelia and Perugia. We also made [sic] a long walk in the hills around Acquasparta – Beautiful! We made our trip to Perugia by train which is actually very easy, comfortable and highly recommended.”
Marijke & Corné.
1-8 April 2010 – Agate & John Ulvestad. Bergen, Norway.
Coming from rain and cold weather in Bergen, Norway we have spent a relaxing and enjoyable week in Umbria, one day in Rome and then exploring the medieval towns in Umbria. Orvieto is a really exciting place to visit, we also had a very nice day at Lake Trasimeno, a very nice area. Thanks to good advice from Conor & Siobhan we enjoyed some excellent dinners in nearby restaurants. Excellent place to stay here, very nice beds and bathrooms and first of all a nice couple being our hosts!
Thank you Conor & Siobhan for your hospitality and help, Best Regards.”

Thank you for a lovely visit. I have enjoyed the couple of days I got top spend here and will be back. You are truly blessed to live in a such spectacular part of the world and it was a pleasure to stay in such a warm and homely environment for the past couple of days. I will look back on this time with a smile and ensure that I spread the word about Acquasparta. Kind Regards,”

7 September 2009 – Francesca e Giorgio, Bologna, Italy.
It seems a paradox, two Italians going to a bed and breakfast in Umbria and finding an Irish family! We were very happy to meet you, the accommodation was excellent and so was your hospitality. We will never forget your help with dinner when we arrived on Saturday night COMPLETELY WET because of the shower on our motorbike! Thank you so much and good luck for your B&B.”
7 September 2009 – Frans and Jeanne Verhoeven, Tilburg, Holland.
On our trekking (by foot) from Holland to Rome we stayed here one night in an excellent room and had a very good breakfast. Thank you for your hospitality and our best wishes.”
6 Settembre 2009 – Paola, Beatrice e Mauro Frattini. Reggio Emilia, Italy.
Grazie a Massimo, Siobhan e Conor per la loro cortese ospitalitá. Ci siamo sentiti come a casa nostra!
4 September 2009 – Iain and Florence Brown. Inverness, Scotland.
We booked Casa Lilla for our holiday through the website as the apartment sounded like a perfect base for us. Sometimes advertising can be misleading but in this case it is spot on. Conor and Siobhan have provided an excellent home for us this week. We thoroughly enjoyed a very relaxing stay, don’t think there is anything you have forgotten in creating such a home from home. Still cant believe you did it all from scratch! Hopefully next time we’ll be able to sample the agriturismo meals as they sound fantastic. We enjoyed being able to jump on the train to see Perugia, Todi and Spoleto (twice) so easily and sample the food, gelato, birra and vino rosso, but most importantly the Umbrian hospitality. Everyone in the town has been so friendly, from a simple ‘buona sera’ to Aldo from the fruit shop throwing in half a watermelon with the shopping for free! You can rest assured we will be giving glowing reports to friends and family and if you ever feel the need to visit Scotland please give us a chance to return your kindness.”
26 August 2009 – Brigitte, Munich, Germany.
We are travelling a lot in Italy – usually by bike. We are very happy that we found your B&B. It is very, very nice and we are sorry that we can’t stay any longer. We wish you get friendly and nice guests in the future and thank you for the very comfortable stay in your home.”
15 – 21 August 2009 – Andrew, Stephanie, Amy, Charlie and Milo. London, UK.
Found you through the website as a reasonably priced apartment for our family of 5. Very pleasantly surprised on arrival by the size of the apartment and the quality of the whole interior. Casa Lilla and Acquasparta are very well located for touring Umbria, with amazing Roman ruins at Carsulae, 6 km away. We arrived on a holiday weekend with everything closed and really appreciated the fresh food and wine, plus advice you gave on arrival. Your info leaflet was invaluable, thanks for everything.”
Andrew and family found out some extra information about the tennis courts, which we should have known, sorry guys. To use the tennis courts in the town you have to book beforehand at the indoor tennis ‘ballroom’ and you need proper flat tennis shoes, the cost per hour is €8 (2009) for a good clay court.
15 August 2009 – Simon, Kasia, Theo and Zoe. London, UK.
Conor, Siobhan and Massimo,
We have had a wonderful fortnight at Casa Lilla apartment exploring the local and not so local hill towns, and enjoying the ice cream and coffee in almost everyone! The location is perfect – tucked away into the ancient walls of Acquasparta, yet only a few minutes away from the motorway taking you to Perugia and Assisi to the north and to the south, Terni (great shops), Narni and onto Rome. Of the local towns we liked San Gemini the best – a truly medieval feel and superb ice cream – very important for our children! The apartment cannot be faulted, we stay in Italy almost every year and Casa Lilla is one of the nicest apartment we have every stayed in. Beautifully appointed with generous and considerate hosts – what more could you ask for? Thank you for everything, I am sure we will be back.”
11 July 2009 – Jo, Andy and Sam, Birmingham, UK.
A lovingly restored, well equipped apartment in a beautiful part of the world. We came here for our first ‘family’ break with our one year old and it was great. The set-up perfect (cot bed, high chair and a great selection of toys for the bambino). The apartment is spacious, comfortable and well connected – the train to Perugia, even with a baby on board, couldn’t have been easier. Acquasparta is a delight – like slipping back in time to a nicer place to be; charming locals, happy kids and beautiful architecture. The café on the piazza our favourite spot for an early evening beer! Conor and Siobhan have been very helpful (the booklet especially for us) and have found a truly wonderful place for young Massimo to grow up. Good Luck!”
14 June 2009 – Victoria Fontana & Fernando Contreras, Madrid, Spain.
Thank you so much for your hospitality. We enjoyed our stay (albeit short!) and in such a short time we were made to feel at home. We will remember our stay here with warm feelings because the people here are so friendly and special! Go take some pictures photographer! (Siobhan) I’d love to see them someday. Kindest Regards,”
3-13 June 2009 – Chris & Elaine Arnold, Bristol, England.
As a party of 6, covering 3 generations and without a car we had set a tough task. We found Casa Lilla a really nice apartment, spacious and well equipped in a delightful town with all facilities within walking distance. The train service was conveniently close, regular and reliable allowing further exploration. Conor and Siobhan made us feel very welcome and were always available with good advice, recommendations and help. Acquasparta’s residents are incredibly friendly and the garden a pleasant hideaway with plenty of books available to while away any time when not eating, drinking or exploring. A great time was had by us all and we happily recommend Casa Lilla as a superb place to stay.”
20-26 May 2009 – Lawrence, Rosemary, Joseph & Carole, USA.
The apartment was well appointed and the beds were wonderful. We appreciated the chance to experience life in Acquasparta. However, it was too brief and so we will return. You both did everything possible to make our stay a memorable one. Thank you.”
9-17 May 2009 – Peter and Ann, England.
A beautiful, spacious, well appointed apartment with an amazing collection of books and DVD’s, much appreciated, as was the welcome pack. We agree with previous visitors about the beds – we have experienced some truly awful mattresses over the years. Acquasparta is a lovely spot to explore the surrounding area from Casa Lilla in particular. You have thought of everything to make it a home from home. Keep up the good work.”
6-13 April 2009 – Sylvia, Peter and Valentina. Denmark.
We have spent a very pleasurable week at Casa Lilla apartment. Lots of space, very good beds, and a nice location in Acquasparta. Actually it is a super location – being able to visit Perugia, Assisi, Rome, Cascatta della Marmore, etc. Acquasparta is a very nice place, friendly people, cosy streets and a relaxed atmosphere. We have been to church several times (Easter period) – which was a great experience! Lots of people, music and singing. We would love to come back to Casa Lilla and Acquasparta. Thank you both for your hospitality and warm welcome. ”
7 November 2008 – Marilyn Filewood, BC, Canada.
I don’t want to sound redundant after reading some of the comments, but the beds are wonderful. I wish mine was half as good. We were more than happy with the location of the apartment and enjoyed our almost daily treks to other villages. If we have the chance again we will be Back! Thank you again for all your gracious hospitality and your help, all was most appreciated. ”
24 October 2008 – Helen & Michael Grant, Perth, Western Australia.
Conor, Siobhan and the ‘lovely’ Massimo,
Thank you for sharing this beautiful part of the world with us. We have travelled all around (almost!) Umbria while here and have enjoyed retreating into our quiet ‘nest’ each day. You have thought of everything – even the use of a computer and the free WIFI internet connection, a great bonus. We wish you well and hope to return someday with friends. Regards, ”
15 October 2008 – Ron and Marilyn Steiner, Seattle, USA.
Thank you for a clean, attractive and comfortable place to stay. We have truly enjoyed our stay here, also thank you for telling us about the wonderful place to have dinner, we have enjoyed everything. Our breakfasts were very ample, thank you. ”
15 October 2008 – Annie and Harlan Olsen, Scottsdale, Arizona, USA.
I am so happy that I found your B&B on the web! You have a wonderful place to which we could retreat at the end of a long day touring. Breakfast was a great treat every morning and the TV, DVD’s Books and use of a computer were unexpected treats. We will spread the word in our part of America about Umbria and Casa Lilla. Thank you for making us feel at home in your home. ”
11 October 2008 – Tim and Lee Hooker, Bristol, England.
Conor and Siobhan, We have spent several weeks on a working tour of Etruscan sites, covering a lot of ground and seen many places – but completing our tour in your wonderful apartment has been the ‘icing on the cake’. Your warm welcome made us instantly feel at home – you even providing ‘essential’ food items in the fridge and a welcome bottle of wine, this is a home from home. Particular thanks to Conor for getting us hooked up to the wireless internet connection, which was essential for our work.
Acquasparta is just beautiful. We have adored the shops, the market, and getting lost in the tiny streets. Your handy hints on where to shop have been very welcoming. This has been a great place for getting into Rome by rail or cruising the autostrada to Perugia and Cortona, but always returning to peace and harmony in your spacious and beautiful apartment. It goes without saying that we are already planning a return here! Our very best wishes to you and sincere Thanks, ”
25 September 2008 – Kathy & Alf Fabila, Brisbane, Australia.
Conor and Siobhan, thank you for the beautiful apartment; the most comfy beds (couldn’t get out in the mornings!) Well equipped apartment – spacious and excellent for a family. The info booklet was a great help, unfortunately time did not permit us to see and do everything, so will definitely be back !! You are so lucky to be in a great spot – the fruit and vegetables were so tasty, and fresh compared to what we buy back home in Coles and Wollies! Once again thank you for everything including the bottle of wine, and other essentials on our arrival, most appreciated, and not forgetting the cost of the apartment for our family, we did very well. We definitely enjoyed our stay and will recommend Casa Lilla to our friends and colleagues.
Gidday ! Best wishes,”
20 September 2008 – Maryanne Montgomery, Canberra, Australia.

We love Acquasparta, one of our favourite places we have visited and would never tire of walking the old back streets, we think you have landed on your feet here. The apartment is great and you have thought of everything. It was great to watch ‘The Gladiator’ before going down to Rome and going into the Colosseum, made it very special! We hope to be able to come back in the near future. ”
13th July 2008 – Lynn and Michael Shuffelbottom, Kenilworth, Warwickshire, UK.

Thanks so much for such a lovely stay. The apartment is a credit to you (the comfiest beds ever!) and all your help and advice was amazing. We’ve loved exploring the area and think Umbria has to be the most beautiful place we have ever seen, and we’ve been around! Also, being able to get the train so easily into Rome was fantastic and cheap. We hope to come back again someday and will definitely be recommending Casa Lilla to our friends, in fact, we already have! ”

Dear Conor and Siobhan,
Thank you for a wonderful week here at Casa Lilla. The apartment is absolutely perfect in every way – great beds, terrific showers and everything we needed in the kitchen. We loved the location too; being able to walk for groceries or wander the lovely streets of Acquasparta made it a great week. We explored many of the hillside towns and found each one to be unique. Two wonderful dinners at Trattoria La Rucola and Ristorante L’Agape have been the best we have had since our arrival in Italy. We hate to leave this idyllic spot and will certainly recommend Casa Lilla to our friends and fellow travellers. ”
August 2007 – Cathy and Mike White. New Zealand
Dear Conor and Siobhan
Thank you so much for your hospitality last week especially for taking us to enjoy an evening with the locals – a great experience even if the food was not as good as I am sure you could cook Conor!! Still fun. We will certainly be telling everyone we can about your lovely home and if you send through that poster I will place it strategically on the gym noticeboard when we get home in October. Enjoy your lives, you deserve to succeed. Until we meet again, Ciao from 2 happy travellers. ”
August 2007 – Judy and Steve Poulter, UK.
Hi Conor, Siobhan and Massimo,
We loved our stay with you and particularly enjoyed the fact that Acquasparta remains relatively untouched by tourism. It was such a relaxing place to spend time watching a real slice of Italian life. You have done a great job renovating Casa Lilla. The apartment is incredibly spacious, bedrooms and bathrooms very tastefully decorated and the communal area light and airy. Many thanks for the welcome pack on arrival and the cleaning supplies which made settling in so much easier. I will pass on your message to Jane and Pete who I know may already have another potential visitor for you! Good luck in your venture and many thanks. ”
July 2007 – Kate, Terry, Tom and George Lansdown. UK.
Hi Conor and Siobhan,
Thank you both very much for having us in your lovely apartment – all your hard work is very obvious in the final result. We all had a great week of much needed rest and relaxation. Would love to come back and explore Umbria again – maybe suitcases and a hire car next time! With very best wishes, ”
June 2007 – John & Sue Marshall, New Zealand.
Hi Conor, Siobhan and Massimo,
Hope you are all well and not over-working in the busy season. We are back at home currently in minus temperatures but sunny. We very much enjoyed our time with you so much so that Rome was a definite let down and made us wish we had spent more time at Casa Lilla, we intend returning (hopefully next year) but are having trouble fitting things in at the moment as we have multiple trips to Australia planned and also want to return to Japan. Hope the language school goes well for you at Perugia one of the things on my wish list is to do the same thing. Once again thank you for your hospitality and for providing such a great place as a base for visiting the area.
Kind regards,”
July 2006 – Kay, Houston, Texas.
Conor and Siobhan,
As one of your first guests we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your beautiful guest house. The décor is typical of the region and it is set in a beautiful part of Italy. We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Lilla. Congratulations on all your great work and planning. ”
